OFFICIALS SAY UKRAINE FIRED 19 ROCKETS AT NOVAYA KAKHOVKA, THREE OF THEM HIT POWER PLANT
Emergency services officials said Ukraine on Monday shelled Novaya Kakhovka with 19 HIMARS and Olkha rockets.
Some of the rockets have been downed by air defenses but three of them hit a local hydroelectric power plant.
“The Kiev regime continues to shell the civilian infrastructure of Novaya Kakhovka. For example, it shelled the Kakhovskaya hydropower plant at 11:20, firing 19 HIMARS and Olkha rockets. Some of the rockets have been downed by air defenses but unfortunately three of them hit the hydroelectric power plant,” a representative of emergency services said.
Data on any casualties is being verified, he said.
Kakhovka HPP is one of a series hydroelectric power plants on the Dnieper River and is located five kilometers from the city of Novaya Kakhovka in the Kherson Region.
The armed forces of Ukraine shell several settlements in the Kherson Region. Schools and social infrastructure have been ruined, and residential buildings have been damaged. According to officials, about 70% of Novaya Kakhovka buildings have been damaged due to regular shelling by the armed forces of Ukraine.—TASS
