A program on the ArabicRT Channel revealed new information about the Iraqi refugee in Sweden, Silwan Momika (37 years old), who burned and desecrated the Qur’an, which sparked global condemnation, according to “Russia Today”.
Investigative journalist Walid al-Miqdadi said, through the program, that Silwan Momika hails from Nineveh Governorate in northern Iraq, and he is an atheist and extremist liberal, adding that he is the founder and head of the “Syrian Democratic Union” party, and he was the leader of an armed faction called “Suqur al-Syrian”, which was formed to liberate Sahl. Nineveh from the terrorist organization “ISIS”.
Al-Miqdadi pointed out that Silwan Momika was arrested in Iraq in 2017 on charges of violations and war crimes. He was released with international intervention, after which he took refuge in Sweden, and he is currently affiliated with one of the racist parties in Sweden.
Al-Miqdadi, who lives in Sweden and is familiar with the conditions of the Arab communities in the country, considered that the Quran burner only wanted fame, and that if he had a specific belief, he would not have acted in this manner.
Al-Miqdadi revealed that on February 6, Silwan had requested permission from the Swedish authorities to demonstrate and burn the Qur’an, but the authorities refused due to fears of breaching security. He then objected to the Administrative Court, which gave him the right to burn the Qur’an because it considered that the police’s decision violated the law on freedom of opinion.
Al-Miqdadi said that the manner in which the incident took place, from playing with the Qur’an like a ball and putting pork on it and burning it, are random actions and show that he is not politically savvy.
