Hamsa playfully sums up her roles as an “Event Producer, Content Creator, Activist, and Humanitarian” when asked to define herself in a single sentence, blending professional versatility with a touch of light-heartedness.
Hamsa Diab Farhat, the visionary Founder and Executive Director of Taste of the Middle East, established the distinguished not-for-profit organization in 2018. Armed with a business marketing & advertising diploma from Seneca College, Hamsa has transformed Taste of the Middle East into a cornerstone celebration of Canadian Middle Eastern music, art, and culture, leaving an indelible mark on both Toronto and Mississauga. The Toronto Festival, now in its sixth year, boasts a remarkable attendance of over 50,000, drawing diverse audiences, including celebrity singers and dignitaries. Simultaneously, the Mississauga Festival, in its second annual iteration, gathers over 5,000 attendees across three days.
In tandem with her festival leadership, Hamsa launched the influential Blog Middle East Toronto, a premier source for all things Middle Eastern in the city. Recognized as a committed content creator and activist, she is known for speaking up for her community. Her dedication extends beyond professional accomplishments to humanitarian causes, where she served as a board member for three years at the International Development and Relief Foundation (IDRF).
Responding to the Beirut Blast, Hamsa initiated the “Lebanon Strong” Canadian Relief Campaign, dispatching 15 containers to aid Lebanon. Beyond her impactful role in community service, Hamsa showcases her talent as a Canadian Lebanese actress, earning the Gold Award in the main competition at the Alexandria Short Film Festival for “The Truth” (2018). Her prowess extends to other films, including “Eitr” (2022), “Hysteria” (2022), and “Zahra’s Faces” (2022).
A dedicated wife and mother of two boys, Hamsa skillfully balances her professional, philanthropic, and personal roles, embodying an unwavering commitment to positive impact.
