“Art in the open” in St. Albert streets – Alberta

Painters exposed their works in front of their houses

“Art in the open” was the idea behind a painting art festival that was held last Saturday in the city of “St. Albert” in Alberta. It included displays of paintings in the city streets. The idea behind the festival came from “St. albert Painters Guild”, the organizer of the festival to overcome the halt of the cultural events caused by covid-19 spread.

Vanessa Ali, a member of the guild explained that the idea behind organizing the event by the painters themselves is somehow new where everyone of them exposed their paintings in front of their houses and the visitors passed watching the tents that contains the paintings in front of the houses and the worktable along with the name lawn signs. Ali added: “City residents are able to get introduced to the painters living in the same city and whom can be their neighbors”.

She asserted the importance of cultural and innovative events at this point as the people and the community would need this boost after the impact of the covid-19 restrictions in Alberta.

Around 40 artists participated in that event and it could be the kickstart of restoring the cultural life in the city again.
