Canadian police announced Friday that the bodies of eight people of two families were found in a swamp on Canadian soil after trying to enter the United States illegally. They belong to two different families, one Canadian-Roman and the other Indian.

“Eight bodies were recovered from the water,” local police chief Sean Dollod told a news conference on Friday.

After the discovery of the bodies of six people on Thursday, including a child under the age of three, “two other bodies were found, a Canadian infant of Romanian origin and a woman who apparently holds Indian nationality,” according to Duloud.

Canadian authorities believe that these two families were trying to enter the United States illegally from Canada
