Hussein Yousuf Hoballah is a co-founder and the Editor-in-Chief of “Sada Al-Mashrek”, a news website launched in 1997.
“Sada Al-Mashrek” is deemed the voice of the Muslim/Arab community of Canada, especially of Quebec. The website covers community events, mainly ones related to the countries of origin. “Sada Al-Mashrek” also promotes awareness of the Canadian political reality.
Sloganising “for a stronger community”, “Sada Al-Mashrek” avoids taking sides when any community groups are in discord and handles matters unbiasedly, especially when the concerned groups are willing to engage in constructive conversations with unalike groups.
Writing articles in Arabic and English about community and Canadian issues, Hussein Hoballah seeks to highlight the problems that Canada’s Arab/Muslim community faces and to defend the community from repetitively being targeted.
He landed in Canada in 1988 and has since lived in Montreal. He’s married, fathers two sons and three daughters and has 7 grandchildren.
A community activist, he’s a member of the board of trustees at the Centre Communautaire Musulman de Montréal (CCMM).
He heads a food-processing company, in which dozens of workers of diverse ethnicities are employed.
